Dear Residents,
Please see update from the Council's Winter Gritting Team:
The gritting crews were out last night (Sunday 10 Feb) up until approximately 11.30 pm, earlier forecasts were unclear in indicating if we would we being getting any snow in the borough, as soon as was confirmed the teams were deployed.
Early indications show that we are not likely to receive any significant snow fall in the borough today. With only a light dusting of snow on the ground at the moment the full snow plan has not been implemented by the Highways Department. The Environment Street Cleansing teams have been asked to apply grit at 2 locations at Derwent Parade and the foot bridge both in South Ockendon.
All other teams have been deployed to carry out their normal duties. The Waste teams are also currently out collecting refuse and recycling on their normal collections rounds.
The current weather forecast suggests that snow showers could continue up until lunch time with the snow turning to sleet and rain as temperatures start to warm up, later in the day.
Regards
Acting Director for Environment
