FLEMING ROAD MAST APPLICATION REFUSED

The Council has rejected 02's application to install a mobile phone mast next to Fleming Road, Chafford Hundred.

This is a victory for all the campaign of residents and councillors who have successfully campaigned that 02 should not locate masts next to residential properties and schools.

This is the 5th attempt by 02 to install a mast next to residential properties, and this is their 5th refusal.  We hope they get the message this time!

Mobile Phone Mast again

O2 have approached the Essex Wildlife Trust to discuss the siting of a mobile phone mast on their property in Chafford Hundred.
The No Masts on Chafford group have met with EWT and held a number of residents’ meetings to discuss possible future applications.
A spokesperson for No Masts said: “I can confirm that a meeting of the Resident Focus Group took place where we discussed O2′s approach to Essex Wildlife Trust and that while we feel the best solution would be no mobile phone mast, we agree that in order to meet O2′s coverage if a mast is absolutely necessary then it should be situated as far from all residential homes as possible – even where this poses a cost issue to O2.
“If O2 can establish that there is an absolute need for a mobile phone mast in the central area of Chafford Hundred then we believe that Location 1 would be the best solution, provided that the mobile phone mast was sited equidistant from all of the residential homes – marked “X” on the peninsular of land between Warren Lane, Lancaster Road, Devonshire Road and Palmerston Rd, as show on the attached map.
“We are disappointed that O2 have not consulted with our resident focus group on their approach to yourselves – and that this is the third time consultation by O2 has failed to take place.
“We trust that in view of our recent meetings, O2 will now engage with residents to find a mutually agreeable solution and we welcome their approach to set up an appropriate meeting to take this forward”.

4th Mobile Phone Mast Refused

The Planning Committee has rejected the 4th application by O2 to install a mobile phone mast next to residential properties. This was the proposed mast off Felipe Road and Frances Avenue.

 

Thanks for all your emails and letters of support, especially to Neil, Rob, Ian, Tracy and Nomastsonchafford focus group who stayed till about 10.15 this Thursday evening to oppose the application.

 

Please be vigilant in your area, and if you notice anyone surveying the area let me know ASAP, because O2 have said they will continue pushing till they get permission.

Action: Opposition to mobile phone mast (Ref:10/00651/TEL)

Dear Residents

 

Thank you for your letters and emails to the Council opposing O2's 4th attempt to install a mobile phone mast in a residential area. This time behind it is right residents' properties off Felipe and Frances Avenue and in close proximity to Warren Primary School.  (You still have till tomorrow to voice your opinion to the Council against the application - email: jkeen@thurrock.gov.uk)

 

Please be aware that the Planning Committee will decide on this application on Thursday 23 Sept (this week) at an open meeting in the Council starting at 7pm.

 

At the meeting a resident will be able to speak against the application, while O2 will try to persuade the committee to approve it. I will also speak against the application.

Another Mobile Phone Mast Looming (Ref: 10/00651/TEL) – Object Now Please!

O2 and Vodafone have submitted another application for a phone mast in the community.
This time it is even closer to residents’ properties!

This is the 4th attempt by O2 to install their mast in the community. We call upon you to write to the Council to object to the mast.

The main points we need to raise are:
• Its proximity to properties – it is about 22m from resident’s back garden.
• Its negative effect on the street scene – as it will rise high above the tree lines and stand out in the vicinity
• It will obstruct the busy footpath and cycle route.
• It will be quite difficult to install/maintain – as they will have to get a vehicle down the footpath.
• It is quite close to Warren Primary School – and the government adviser has warned against locating masts in the proximity of young children whose brains are still developing.
• The very poor consultation with no feedback from O2
Please note that the deadline to submit objections to this is next week Tuesday (14th September 2010) therefore you need to send your views to the Planning Officer now!

THE MOBILE PHONE MAST SAGA IS BACK

Last week I received a letter from 02 informing me of their proposal to install a mobile phone mast for 02 and Vodafone networks at a new location on Fenner Road (which is you may note is not too far away from their rejected application).

They have also proposed to re-site another mast off Clockhouse Lane (also just a few yards away from their previous proposal)

I have responded to the letter asking for their comments about:

1. The previous Planning Committee decision – when 02 agreed to examine alternative sites to address the issue of:
• Street scenes
• Proximity to residential properties
• Proximity to Primary School and childcare facilities

2.The lack of response to residents concerns – no reference was made to the 1000-strong petition submitted

3. Alternate sites - No comments were made about the suggestion in the Planning Committee to locate the masts on existing electric pylons

4. New location – which seems to have a complete disregard for the use of the Footpath/cycle route

I have called on 02 to advice me how you plan to address these concerns and further called for a full public consultation about their plans.

Fenner Road Mast Rejected

Dear Resident,

The Planning Committee this evening (Thursday 11th March 2010) refused to grant 02 permission to install a mobile phone mast on Fenner Road, South Chafford.

I want to say a big thank you to Neil and Tracy and 'nomastsonchafford', who spent a lot of time researching the law and campaigning against the application.

I also want to thank all residents who wrote letters to 02 and to the Council opposing the plans, and to the over 1000 residents (including children from Warren Primary School) who signed the petitions and campaigned vehemently against this application.

We will continue to monitor this to see if 02 either appeal or propose to put it elsewhere on Chafford.

But once again, thanks to one and all.

Mobile Phone Mast - Fenner Road

Dear Resident

This week, on Thursday 11th March at 7pm, the Planning Committee of the Council will consider 02's application to put a mobile phone mast on Fenner Road. (Click on topic for the report).





Residents have written, individually and jointly to the Council, and to 02. The online petition against this mast now has 380 signatures.





The mast is planned to be located immediately behind residents homes and less than 200m to Warren Primary School.





We have called on to 02 withdraw their application and consider the views of residents.

Mobile Phone Masts - Clockhouse Lane Application Withdrawn

Good news for residents in Chafford Hundred.

One of the two mobile phone mast applications by O2 in Chafford Hundred have been withdrawn over land ownership issues.

This relates to the application for Clockhouse/Warren Lane.

Whilst this is good news for anxious residents, O2 may resubmit their application when the question around land ownership has been resolved. So we must remain vigilant.

This still leaves the application for the Fenner Road site, which is to heard in front of the Planning Committee on the 11th March. Please continue your support.

No to Mobile Phone Masts in Chafford

Dear Resident,

Well-done to everyone involved in this campaign and to those who have signed the petition or written to 02 or the Planning dept of the Council.

I also want to say thank you to all those who took time out to attend the residents meeting this Saturday (13th Feb 2010). It was good to have the 02 communications manager attend to answer questions from residents.

During the week, 02 responded to my letter, stating:"Telefónica o2 UK Ltd would be glad to review any alternative site locations put forward and are committed to consultation". I have responded inviting them to further discussions along with planning officers to identify realistic locations prior to a full consultation.

I also called on them to withdraw their current applications, work together with the planning department to identify plausible sites and consult with residents before resubmitting any application.

These points were reiterated at the meeting today and 02 promised to reconsider their position.

The next meeting about the masts is 1.30pm on Saturday 20th February at Campus.

It is important that everyone involved continues to work together against these applications, and I will do everything I can to oppose them.

I have advised the Planning officers in the Council that residents object to this mobile phone mast and have asked that the application be heard by the full Planning Committee. The date for this will be set in the near future.

A mobile phone company is to remove a mast from a block of flats after seven residents were struck down by cancer.
Three have died and another four have battled the disease since two masts were erected on the roof of the five-storey block which has become known locally as the Tower of Doom.
The cancer rate on the top floor - where residents of five of the eight flats have been affected and the three who died all lived - is 20 per cent, ten times the national average.
Residents of Berkeley House in Staple Hill, Bristol, also complain of terrible headaches and other ailments which they blame on radiation from the masts.
