So I met with the pupils of the School on Wednesday as part of Local Democracy Week. Bright young lads raised many issues of interest which I promised to publish here:
1. Pond - they want the pond in Belhus Park sorted out so that it is safe to use.
2. Free Swimming for under 16s - They want the Council to fund this as an incentive for healthy living and social interraction.
3. Free buses for under 16s - They also want this funded as it is quite expensive for them to pay fares especially where they are actually much younger than they look
4. ID Cards to prove their age - In relation to 3 above, they hope the Council can fund a free ID card for age verification.
If you share these views, or have any comments, please email me. I did promise to pass these views on their councillors.

This Week is Local Democracy Week
2009's Local Democracy Week is taking place from Monday 12 to Sunday 18 October. Thurrock Council is part of the many councils and schools up and down the country who will be taking part.I will be joining many other Councillors in Thurrock to visit schools as part of the Local Democracy Week.
I am, of course, available all year round to answer any questions you may have about democracy in Thurrock. Please email me with any queries.
