Mike Lovett, the Principal of Harris Primary Academy, Chafford Hundred has decided to retire.
In a letter to parents on Friday 15 Feb, Mr Lovett wrote, "I wanted to write to let you know that I have decided to retire at the end of the Spring Term. This is a decision I have thought about carefully, but as I approach retirement age I feel that now is the right time."
Mike has been a Headteacher for the past fifteen years and led Harris Primary Academy Chafford Hundred in its conversion to an Academy. He will leave his post after the Easter holidays.
The Harris Federation will shortly begin recruiting his successor.
Cllr Tunde Ojetola, South Chafford councillor and Chair of the Governing Body said, "I want to thank Mike for all the hard work he has put in over the past years, especially during very trying periods which saw the school take on an extra class every year since 2008 and eventually become a 3 form entry.
On behalf of the Governors, I wish him all the best in his retirement.
