Residents Update May 2013

Dear Residents

New bin Collection Schedule: The regular weekly waste and recycling collection days from many streets in Thurrock are set to change from June this year. The Council will be publishing new collection days over the coming weeks. Each household will receive a notification of its new collection day. Collections will remain on a weekly basis for all three bins. No other part of the service to residents will be affected. Please watchout for your new date and let us know if you encounter any problems.

Youth Park on Rainbow Road: You will be pleased to note that the Park is now complete. Many residents have complained about the Parking along Rainbow Road and Mill Lane, Cllr Key and I are looking into this and will keep you posted.

Howard Road Development: The site has now been sold to a new developer, we are making representations (via the Council) to the new owner to ensure that the work begins as soon as possible.

GP Surgery: We had ensured that the community contribution from the site at Howard Road includes the construction of a GP surgery. We will ensure that the new developers commit to this. We will also be working with the new GP commissioning Group in Thurrock to ensure that funding is provided for the surgery to take off. If you have any comments about this, please contact us.

Felipe Road: We are working with residents to resolve anti-social behaviour in the area. Residents are currently collating evidence of ASB and will send it back to the Council as part of the early assessment for the installation of gates.

Boy Racers: We are working with the police to ensure that they deal with this issue. You will recall that we blocked the double roundabouts at the top of the A126, but the racers moved to Lakeside area. The Police recently arrested about 60 of those participating in racing and we hope that this will serve as a warning to those others. (http://cllrtunde.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Racing%20Issue)

Mayflower Road: After a year of persistent emails and calls, the Council will implement the new speed limits and waiting order this May or June. For details about the plans visit: http://cllrtunde.blogspot.co.uk/p/road-improvements_14.html

Gabriel Close: We are working with the Police to ensure they continue to monitor the ASB in this area. Please contact us or the Police if you notice anymore ASB in the area.

Lancaster Road: We are investigating the vibration felt by some residents when HGVs or Buses travel on the road. The Council has confirmed that it does not send HGVs (other than the bin lorries) down the road. I will update residents on the street when I receive the response from Ensign Buses.

Youth Cabinet: (See attached Newsletter). You may be interested in the work the youth cabinet are carrying out in Thurrock. If you have youths and you want them to get involved, please let me know.

Regards
