This week has been a very sad one for our Party, and for the country. With Lady Thatcher's passing, we have lost a towering figure in the Conservative Party and someone who the Prime Minister quite rightly described as "a great leader, a great Prime Minister, and a great Briton". On Wednesday, Parliament was recalled so that members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords could pay tribute to Lady Thatcher. Tributes were led by the Prime Minister - you can read his Statement here. Lots of people have asked how they too can get involved and pay their respects. Next Wednesday, Party supporters and all those who have been inspired by Lady Thatcher, or who have had their lives touched by her enduring legacy, have their opportunity to pay tribute by lining the route of her coffin, which is to be drawn by gun carriage between the Church of St Clement Danes on the Strand to St Paul's Cathedral. The route will be lined by tri-service military personnel and the Procession is likely to commence at approximately 10am - although please arrive early as significant crowds are expected. This will be a unique and very special occasion. I encourage all Party supporters - and all Margaret Thatcher supporters - to make every effort to come to London and pay your own respects to her memory by lining the Procession route. I can think of no better way to show our profound gratitude. Further details of the funeral Procession can be found here. If you wish to record your memories of the late Lady Thatcher or leave a message of condolence to her family, our online Condolence Book is available to sign here.
