House fire in Chafford Hundred

A FAMILY and their au pair have been made homeless after a fire in Chafford Hundred.
Four adults and three children fled the home after the blaze in Triumph Close just after 8.30pm on Monday.
One adult, a man, suffered the effects of smoke inhalation and was left in the care of the ambulance service. The rest of the family was assisted by the Red Cross Fire Support Unit.
Crews raced to the detached house after receiving several 999 calls from worried neighbours.
A first floor bedroom was alight and, due to the number of calls received, a crew from Orsett was sent to join two from Grays at the scene.
Firefighters donned breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze and by about 8.50pm everyone had been accounted for.
The fire was out by 10.40pm and a joint Police and Fire Service investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident. (from Thurrock Gazette)
