Dear Residents
On my request, the officer responsible for changing the bins timetable has issued the apology below.
Its the least the Council can do, we will continue to press the Council to get the bin collection right and if they can't fix that, then they should replace the previous unbroken system.
Please continue to update Charlie and I about the issues you are facing.

Subject: Apology to residents of Chafford Hundred re waste and recycling collection problems
Dear Members and Philomena
Could I please ask that you pass the information below onto residents of Chafford Hundred.
For several weeks, scheduled waste collections in your area have been disrupted and I would like to apologise for this and the inconvenience this has caused.
At the beginning of June new round areas were introduced across the entire Borough resulting in a change for 64,000 households, the change included the days collected, the routes the crews work too and the working practices of staff. This has been a huge task but it will ultimately create a more efficient and effective service whilst delivering savings of £300,000 and keeping a weekly collection of all three bins.
A change of this magnitude takes several weeks to settle in and now that the initial period of change has past, collections are stabilising and the majority of scheduled collections are taking place on their correct day with only a small percentage delayed.
We are using the Council's website www.thurrock.gov.uk/waste to keep residents up to date, and you can also follow us on Twitter @thurrockcouncil to find out the latest information.
If you have a missed collection, check online www.thurrock.gov.uk/waste and click on missed collections, if your road is listed here, we know we have missed your collection and will be back within 2 working days. You don't need to tell us we have missed your bin.
If you would like to contact us you can use any of the following methods:
· You can phone us on 01375 652652, option 3 or on 01375 366071
· You can email us waste@thurrock.gov.uk
· You can tweet us @thurrockcouncil
I thank you for your patience and cooperation whilst we embed the new rounds and working patterns and please be assured that we are working to get the service back to collecting all three bins on the scheduled collection day as quickly as possible.
Regards
Lucy

If ain't broke - don't fix it.
A mistake like this in the private sector would not be tolerated - but then again, the Council doesn't live in the real world.
I bet she gets a big bonus next year for all her hard work............
Lucy,
To make a monumental change to the removal of wast in the Chafford area at the height of summer is a misjudgment in management. All weekend we have been plagued by maggots and flies, cats and foxes.
My Saturday morning consisted of picking up rotting chicken and left over Indian food from my street. I think winter would have been a more suitable time. I understand you have savings to make but NOT at the cost to residence enjoying the short summer with there families. In my opinion which probably doesn't mean that much I would give all the effected areas a free bin clean as a token gesture of good will.
Matthew Taylor.
I’m sorry if you have had issues over the weekend, we have had to implement the changes as early in the financial year as possible to make the necessary savings agreed by the Council. We offer a three bin collection service so residents have the opportunity to limit their refuse and recycle as much as possible.
I’m sorry but we do not offer any sort of bin cleansing service.
Regards
Lucy
