Care home plan rejected by borough planners

COUNCILLORS have refused plans to change the use of a house into a three-bed care home in Chafford Hundred.

The application for 75 Mayflower Road, Chafford Hundred, which is situated close to Chafford Hundred Campus, was refused because of the lack of parking for visitors and staff, the location being unsuitable for a care home, and the strain it would cause on the roads.

Councillor Steve Veryard, said: “We encourage the development of small business but we also have a duty to examine the views of the residents.

“It’s very busy in Mayflower Road at peak times.”

Chair of the Planning Committee Councillor Stuart St Clair-Haslam, added: “I do feel there will be an intensification of the issue of the highway in terms of parking.

“It’s a tightly and densely populated area of Chafford Hundred.”
