Consultation on Thurrock Lakeside Basin draft policy

The second stage of the proposed Lakeside Basin Development is almost completed as the draft proposals have been the subject of 6 weeks of public consultation.

How does this impact on Chafford Hundred:
- The boundary of Lakeside Basin includes Chafford Hundred station
- Close to Hogg Lane
- It includes parts of Devonshire Road.
- It is very near to Sewell and Southwell Close where there are suggestions of further housing developments.

The draft policy and all key supporting documents are available to download via the website (click on topic).

First Consultation
As your elected representative, I responded to the first consultation on the proposal, vehemently objecting to any plans to put more houses at around Sewell Close and Southwell area which is very close to the red-line boundary of Lakeside Basin. The Council also sent in a response.

Second Consultation
For the second stage, if you wish to make representations on the draft policy your comment must be made on the representations form (obtained via the website - click on topic), alternatively send me your views for me to include in my response. The deadline for submitting consultation responses is 5.00pm on Monday 18 May 2009.

Comments
For Chafford although nothing is totaly ruled in or out, it seems that the main impact will be around the C2C train station - where the proposal is examining options to ensure that it is more accessible to the 'new' Lakeside Basin.

This could have its advantages, in that our campaign to ensure that there are two lines at the station instead of the current one would gain grounds. That however should be balanced against the other proposal for another station at West Thurrock.
