Residents of Francisco Close will be pleased to know that I have recently approved funding for the resurfacing of Fenner road. This should go a long way in reducing the noise which the current tarmac produces.
There should be notices up in the area advising of the proposed work - so apologies for any disruption that this might cause when the work is being carried out.
The work on the suggested weight restriction has not stopped, but as Steve and I informed some of your neighbours, it is a long running issue and has to be viewed in light of the whole transportation system.

How much is it costing? Why is this down to the council rather than the government, given we pay our road tax etc.
There were notices to say that Fenner road, was to close between 9:30am and 15:30 for 2 weeks starting on the 10th Sept.
This doesn't seem to have happened. Can you update why the works have been cancelled/postponed.
thank you
Why is Fenner Road getting noise reduction tarmac, when the likes of Fleming Road, having more residents overlooking the road is ignored?
1. I will get the cost and publish here soon. I believe it is a local road therefore its Thurrock's responsibility. The fund for the work comes through the Local Transportation Plan.
2. The work on Fenner Road is now due to commence on 17 September.
3. I am happy to conduct a survey about noise issues in Fleming Road. The residents of Francisco Close have had to put up with noise off Fenner Road as the tarmac used was not suitable for a residential area.
Fenner Rd is part of the B186 (West Thurrock to Brentwood) and is thus a "local route" the residents look forward to these works as the current noise level is both noticeable and an annoyance.
In addition the noise emanating from Lakeside Karting and Arena Essex has become much more noticable especially late at night (10pm).
The main concern regarding Fleming Road is the excessive speed - often in excess of 50mph on a 30mph road. Could we please have one of the flashing speed signs similar to that which is to be found on Devonshire Road? You could then use the data to perhaps justify a speed camera.
As the demographic of the immediate area is changing from DINKY's (sic) to those with young children I feel it is only a matter of time before a serious injury or God forbid a fatality on this particular road. Although not confined to just excessive speed there are also many drivers using their mobile phones, I actually saw a drive this week sending a text message whilst driving! Put a policeman in the layby/entrance of the flats on Fleming Road and fine these wreckless and inconsiderate "drivers".
The works seem to have stopped. Only half of the road from the Lakeside roundabout has been completed. The patch of road outside the residents houses in Francisco Close, is still not done. Can you update on what is happening with the road works, and why it is becoming an embarassment, that the Council can't even get some relaying of Tarmac right in Chafford.
To the last comment.
Cllr Steve Veryard and I have followed this up and be rest assured that the work will be completed in the near future.
