Travellers in Chafford

Dear residents

Many of you have contacted me and my colleagues about the Travellers at the Coach Park near to Lakeside.

The latest update that we have on this matter is that the landowner has applied for a Court Order to repossess the land. On this basis it has not been necessary to pursue planning enforcement action to apprehend this breach of planning control.

I can confirm that we are being apprised of the situation should any such intervention be necessary but it is unlikely following the legal action taken by the landowner that we would need to invoke planning enforcement powers.

With regard to time scales, I understand that the Court Order will be executed in the next week or so (subject to finalising legal proceedings). This will compel the Travellers to move from the land.

We have also been told that the land owners have a Waste Management team on standby to deal with any refuse / waste left by the Travellers. Therefore any litter or detritus that is left will be removed swiftly from the site.

I will keep you posted.

Regards
