The Developers confirmed that the intention was "to bring a very smart high specification to the area that would attract young professionals and local young people ready to live independently of parents." They further stated that although all their proposals were consistent with planning guidelines, they had delight in taking on board our views and had amended their plans accordingly. This led to them presenting alternative proposals.
On the alternative proposals, Steve and I:
- Objected to the increase in dwellings
- Proposed 30% shared ownership scheme for affordable houses
- Proposed that the S106 funds be used for education purposes
- Welcomed the inclusion of a GP Surgery - which was a major issue on our agenda
- Welcomed the underground car park - again, another major issue which we had raised
- Welcomed the overall 'Green' agenda for the new building which included the installation of solar panels, and tree planting; provision of a bicycle, Oyster Card and Health Centre membership with each unit; and the electric car charging ports

If they had taken views on board there would not be an increase in dwellings and they would have got the hell out of here, realising that we're already overdeveloped. Lets see the council provide more places at our schools, before we take more dwellings. Has nothing been learnt from the recent campaign ?
Why are you proposing affordable houses. Wasn't your party opposed to the Labour council when they let affordable houses in at the other end of Chafford. Why are you now for it ?
Funny about the last campaign about additional school places in Thurrck.
After all the fuss, the huffing and puffing, only 10 people took up places. At the time we were informed 28 children did not have any place in Chafford schools, so how come only 10 people have taken it up.
Will we have the developers there at the meeting. Last time they were given a 10 minute slot not allowing residents to properly get their points across. This is so important you really need to make this the only agenda item. Do you have a guest spot each time at the chafford forum then?
In relation to the last comment:
I don't know if the Developers have been invited.
The Chafford Hundred Community Forum is a non-political residential association, run by executives elected each year by residents. They set the agenda make the decision about invitees. Please see their website: www.chaffordhundredcf.org.uk
According to the council paper, http://democracy.thurrock.gov.uk/CMISWebPublic/Binary.ashx?Document=10578
it was the council who decided on 26 places and to date 15 kids have taken up the places. Where are you getting your facts from, not the newspapers I hope. Tunde could perhaps find out the latest situation.
So Cllr Tnde, I was unable to make the meeting. Were the developers invited and regardless whats was the outcome of this at the meeting. The website you mention doesn't have any updates on it for this meeting yet.
