School Admission Issue

As you may know that the decision made by the Cabinet on 5 September has been the subject of a call-in (asked to be reviewed).

This call-in will now be heard by the Children's Service Scrutiny Committee on 3 October 2007.

This meeting is a meeting held in public rather than a public meeting. This means that while residents can watch the proceedings, no contribution is allowed except as permitted by the Chair.

At the meeting:
1. They can decide to reject the call in, which means that the cabinet decision can be implemented unhindered
2. They can otherwise decide to accept it. If this happens, they may take and hear evidence on the day of the meeting, and issue recommendations for next Cabinet;
3. Appoint a sub-committee to review it and make recommendations for the Cabinet to consider at a future date.

Will keep you posted.

Please note that I am a member of the Cabinet, therefore due to legal reasons relating to the 'call-in' process, I have been advised not to comment on this issue at the moment.
