it doesn't really go anywhere. Can't we have a bus that goes somewhere.
IS it possible to get a bus from Chafford to any of the thurrock leisure centres please. I'm particularly interested in this as it's half term next week and my children wish to go swimming.
There is no direct bus service that goes from Chafford Hundred to any of Thurrock Leisure facilities. The easiest solution would be to get into Grays then from Grays catch the First 200 or Ensign 44 to get to Blackshots Leisure Centre. Alternatively from Grays the Ensign 73 to Palmers College ( www.palmers.ac.uk )as they have sports facilities there including a swimming pool which are open to members and non members. If these facilities are open on a Sunday then you could catch the X80 from Chafford Hundred direct to Palmers.
Some useful background:
Ensign Bus Company decided to split the X80 bus service (operating Grays Bus Station Chafford Hundred - Lakeside - Bluewater Monday to Saturday) into two bus services, the X80 and the 33. The reason behind Ensign doing this, is that the X80 is frequently delayed at the Dartford Tunnel and therefore making the rest of the route very unreliable.
The X80 will continue operating but only Lakeside to Bluewater, Monday - Saturday and the new 33 service will operate Lakeside Bus Station, Chafford Hundred, Lenthall Avenue, Grays Bus Station. This will be a half hour service starting from 0526 going up to 1950- Monday to Friday and an hourly service on a Saturday from 7.39 to 1839.
Ensign are hoping that when this service starts operating from Saturday 10th November it will be a reliable service, keeping to timetable.
Cllr Tunde, the easiest solution is not as you suggest. The easiest solution is for my children to have the rights other children in the borough have and be able to get to the local leisure facilities without having to go through the myriad of options you suggest above. Surely as there are not Chafford Facilities ofr Chafford Children, despite many promises to the contrary, the least we can expect is for the council to provide us tranpsot to facilities in Cllr and also the transport bloke on the council you ae aware of this and doing something about it.
On another note you say of palemers is open on a Sunday afternoon. I assume that's beacuse you're aware the public can't go swimming after 13:00 at blackshos on a Sunday.
Given the early closure on a weekend and the lack of public transport to get to any local facilities, I put it to you that you cllrs don't care for the health and fitness of chafford and thurrock residents, else you would have done something about it.
If you can't get the bus to Blackshots, what about building some leisure facilities on Chafford Hundred. you've been in "power" for over 3 years, yet I don't see that you've provided anything for the teenagers to do at all.
Fleming road is a residential road and the last thing we need is more buses going up and down it. This seems to be an ill though out Knee Jerk reaction. Buses are more needed where there's no trains!
Given the leisure centres mentioned. Can you put something in your blog as regards the local leisure centres and when we can use them please? That would be most useful.
Tunde, you seem to have lost interest in this. Do you really think my children should have to use 2 buses, simply to get to the lesiure facilities, that you are not sure are open. Wake up man.
