Neighbourhood Watch Members: Invitation to over 60s 'Stay Safe' Day

An invitation to an older persons ‘Stay Safe’ Day.

The event is free and will be held next Thursday 2nd October at The Culver Centre, Daiglen Drive, South Ockendon. The invite is open to all Thurrock residents aged 60 or over.

The day (10am -3.30pm) will involve a musical play by The Soloman Theatre Company. Although this is a very entertaining play, with a chance for a ‘sing-song’, there is a serious message behind it. It gives advice on scams and how to avoid being tricked.

The day is aimed at providing useful advice to residents, there will be a number of stands giving out helpful advice and there will also be talks by:

-           Essex Police – Home Safety , preventing burglary, Personal safety

-          Thurrock Trading Standards – Cold callers/rouge traders/distraction burglary

-          Essex County Fire & Rescue Service – Fire safety in the home

-          Plus other presentations on keeping yourself safe, including a section on Neighbourhood Watch.

There will also be a few useful Crime Prevention ‘giveaways’ and a free buffet lunch.

Please see the attached flyer for full details. Please feel free to pass this message onto any friends or neighbours who are 60 or over.

Best wishes
