Proposed Development at Norfolk Place, Chafford Hundred

About a month ago, residents of Norfolk Place expressed concerns about any proposed developments at this site after witnessing the demolishing of the properties. I assured residents that I would chase this and respond.

Concerns about any increase in capacity are mainly due to potential over-crowding and the impact it will have on amenities (transport, healthcare, education, open space etc).

I wrote to the Planning Department of the Council to express my concerns in writing, and also contacted the developer. I sort assurance that any plans for the site did no more than replace the demolished properties like-for-like, i.e. that there is no increased accommodation.

I have today (Friday 4th Sept) received assurance from the developer that:
· there will be no increased capacity
· the plan is to replace the demolished properties
· the proposal is to build two 4-bedroom houses & one 3-bedroom house
.

Cllr Veryard & I will be meeting residents tomorrow (Saturday) to discuss this further.
