Thurrock Council has commissioned consultants to investigate the premises needs of faith groups in Thurrock, as part of work on the Local Development Framework and the Single Equalities Scheme. The study will assess the current and future needs of the borough's faith groups and identify ways of meeting these needs.
An initial survey was carried out in July 2009 with questionnaires sent out to faith group.
The next stage is a workshop which will be held on Wednesday 2nd September 2009 from 10.30am to 1pm at The Beehive Resource Centre, West Street, Grays.
The meeting will be in a workshop format, allowing everyone to take part and contribute to the discussion. The meeting will:
- Review the list of faith groups and their premises identified in the Borough
- Discuss faith groups' premises needs
- Discuss how needs are likely to change in the future
- Explore how future premises needs could be met (funding, partnerships, temporary use of space, shared facilities etc.)
- What support faith groups may need to achieve their aspirations?
