The Council is also in talks with other schools in Chafford Hundred to ensure that all 39 children who were initially unable to secure a place at one of the estate’s schools will be able to do so.
Cllr Sue MacPherson, Thurrock Council’s Cabinet member for Children’s Services, said: “There are still some practical details we have to agree with everyone, but I will endeavour to ensure all concerned parents receive a letter confirming places in Chafford Hundred schools during the half-term week.
“The council has been working hard with the schools to make sure that enough places will be available.
I am pleased at the outcome as parents will be given the schools of their choice. There is obviously a year-on-year increase in demand for school places in Chafford. We now need to discuss the long-term plan for school places to prevent the unnecessary anxiety parents have had this year.
Along with councillors Veryard and MacPherson, I met with concerned parents to assure them the council would do everything possible to meet their needs and like them, I am quite pleased with the outcome.
