Howard Road Development

I have today submitted the petition below to the Development Corporation. I will keep you posted in respect of the date of the Planning Committee so that as many people as possible can attend.

Petition against Proposed Development (08/001156/TTGFUL)

We the Ward Councillors, Community Forum and residents of South Chafford Ward oppose the proposed developments of 140 dwellings on land rear of Bannatynes (08/001156/TTGFUL).

Chafford Hundred is complete saturated with houses. It is over built - with over 8000 dwellings instead of the originally planned 2500. The facilities for the community have not increased with the additional developments. Last year residents had to physically protest for additional school places because the current places are not sufficient. Current stats show a requirement of 20% increase in school places with the current population, as there is no land to build a new school.

There is only one GP for the whole area, and it is oversubscribed by 2500 people.

The roads are jammed due to its close proximity to Lakeside shopping complex and the M25.
There are no facilities for the Youths at all.

Therefore putting these extra dwellings will exacerbate a serious problem. We therefore oppose the construction of these dwellings and ask the government to change the use to earmark the land for community facilities instead of houses or industry.
