Cabinet have approved the continuation of the Concessionary Fares Scheme.
As of April 2007, the local scheme we have been running will become part of the national scheme; however the national scheme will run reduced hours as it starts from 9.30am instead of the 9am start we have in Thurrock.
We have therefore decided to sponsor the extra 30mins, so that there will be no reduction in service for our residents.
Additionally, although the national scheme will end at 11pm, again Thurrock Council is sponsoring additional times to keep the status as it is.
Free travel is also planned to be provided on the Tilbury-Gravesend ferry, but is subject to negotiation with the ferry operator
Overall, users of the scheme should not notice any difference in the time frame.

Are there buses in Thurrock running at 11pm. As one of the gang of four in chafford can you get us some buses at that time of night please, rather than the steadily worsening service we seem to be getting, with change after change in timetables which do not work and do not line up with trains.
Buses are mainly run on a commercial basis. Where there is a demand and the private operators do not provide the service, the Council subsidises the route.
I am interested in your suggestion about a service at this time and will like to discuss this further if you don't mind.
Can we have a bus to Blackshots please. MY children are memebrs of the council gym upthere, but cannot get there as there is no public transport and I don't get home from work until 17:30, by which time they are no longer allowed in tehe gym. Its not as though there is anywhere provided on C100 I can send them, to keep fit and healthy and off the streets. Have you progressed the later night buses, or is your post all talk ? It ws 10 months ago, you made the post, what changes, actions and investigations have you taken?
