Drake Road

Residents of Drake Road may be pleased to know that funding has been approved to change the layout of the traffic calming measures.

The main purpose of this is to allow the newer types of buses easier access to the community. Hopefully this will attract more bus operators and in effect increase the efficiency and reliability of the public transport system.

The work is due to commence latest autumn 2007.

Can you get the bus and train timetables lined up again please. Current situation is madness.

Thurrock Council ensured that the bus time table syncronised with the timetable which C2C consulted on and eventually published late 2006, unfortunately C2C decided to revert to their old time table.

This put the timing out of squence. The Passanger Transport Unit is working with bus operators to try to syncronise the times again.

My understanding was that this funding was for Devonshire Road!! and the sum is £50K, have we residents upon Devonshire Rd been forgotten about.I have been campaigning for two years now for the weight restrictions to be enforeced by the Police. Today I have come back from two weeks holiday to find articles in the Gazzette about the signs being illegal and for them to be removed. We residenst on devnonshire road have had enough of these HGV's making our lives hell and if these signs are removed Thurrock Council will be looking at a huge recompense as we have been sold these properties under force pretence. We need your help and assistance please, I have been in close contact with Clr Garry Hague and Neil Rockliffe on this matter. Also the 7.5 sign has been taken down, Shell tanker drivers have been given letters saying that they can now use Devonshire Road as access I can obtain a copy of this letter if need be.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Tunde,

the timetable reverted in Septmebt. What you really mena is nothing has happened for 9 almost 10 months and the next scheduled change of the timetable this December, we'll synch up with once more. Thats effectively the fact of the matter, which simply means you failed to respond and sort out the transport for a full year. Thats disgraceful, especially given you've also allowed the bus service to go up from 1 pound return to 2 pound return in Chafford Hundred over night.

T Matthews:

I will respond to Devonshire Road issues under a different post.

I am not aware of £50K neither am I aware of any letters issued to anyone. I would therefore appreciate a copy pls. (You can scan it or post it to me via Thurrock Council).

On the timetable issue, it was unfortunate that all the hard work put in last year was overriden by the unexpected change of timetable by C2C. I am aware of the inconvenience this caused, but it takes a lot of liaison with the various independent bus operators to change timetables and costs a lot of money too.

Majority of bus services are privately owned profit making business, therefore the prices of bus tickets are set by these private operators. Thurrock Council can only influence prices of subsedised buses. If however a route is unfairly expensive, I am happy to look into it and contact bus operators with feedback.
