Dartford Crossing Charges

I have this week sort further assurances from Dept for Transport that the proposed changes in the fare at the crossing will not commence without the promised discounts for Thurrock residents.

Although there is no official date for new toll charges, there is speculatioin that it could be as early as spring 08.

It is only fair that residents of Thurrock who have to bear the brunt of the congestion (with all its side effects) should receive discounts for the "one of the most busy crossings in Europe".

Will keep you posted.

This Thatcherite bridge has her name written all over it; no way for pedestrians to cross, or cyclists to cycle (you have to put it on the back of a Landrover) The car is king!

An extortionate and unreliable bus service across the river to boot! Shameful really.

Comments 1 & 2:
The most important thing here is to make sure that residents receive the promised discounts. My point here is that there was some speculation that the discounts may be off the cards. I am trying to make sure it remains a topic until its delivered.

Thurrock and Ensign are working on the Bus Service to ensure that it is improved. Hopefully there will be a change in the near future - will keep you posted.
